Better Payroll Now is a California-based independent payroll consultancy for small and medium businesses. We set payroll up correctly, keep it running properly, and manage the transitions — PEO exits and provider switches — where payroll most often goes wrong.
The principal
Carl Nahigian, Principal Consultant. Carl and his team have over 20 years of payroll experience — from working at big-box brands to small boutique firms. Now he helps businesses find the best fit: the one that actually works for them. And when a client needs help finding insurance for the business, Carl can help there too: directly in the states where he holds a producer license, and through a large network of trusted brokers in most states — if he can't place it himself, he'll connect you with a licensed broker he trusts.
Carl is a licensed insurance producer (NPN 22289551) holding licenses in multiple states, including California (License #4564628). Licenses can be verified through state insurance departments — California's at insurance.ca.gov — or via the national producer registry at nipr.com.

Workers' compensation
Where an engagement touches workers' compensation — as PEO exits do — coverage is arranged through licensed channels only: by Carl in the states where he is licensed, or through a trusted, licensed broker from his network elsewhere. We coordinate the timing so coverage and payroll move together. We do not quote or discuss insurance pricing on this site.
